The universal approach to addressing the primary prevention, are, encouraging positive parent, by way of public announcement services, educating parents, providing support groups, focusing on child development, responsibilities, and roles of parenting, strengthening family, and support programs, and public campaigns, promoting, public awareness providing information on how to report suspecting child abuse and neglect, (HHS, 2019).
Secondary prevention, focusing on high-risk activates populations, with one or more associating risk factors with child abuse and neglect, (HHS, 2019). Maltreatment concern, such as, parental substance abuse, poverty, parental mental health concerns, young parental age, and child or parental disabilities, the programs for neighborhoods, or communities, target services having high incidence of all risk factors, (HHS, 2019). Secondary preventions, includes, educating parents, locally, in high schools, addressing teen parenting, programs for substance abuse, to help with, treating mothers, and families with children, support groups for patents, helping to cope with everyday stresses, home visits, helping to assist new expecting, and mothers, in their home, respite care for special need children, and resource centers for families, offering referral, and information services for low-income neighborhoods, (HHS, 2019).
Tertiary prevention, focuses on activities for families with maltreatment already existing, seeking to reducing the negative consequences of child abuse and neglect, and preventing recurrences, preventive programs, such as, services for intensive preservation, includes mental health counselors, available 14 hours a day, parent mentoring programs, with families providing support, and acting as role models, in a nonabusive, and stable environment, (HHS, 2019). Tertiary prevention, also, provides support, and group programs, helping to transform parents, negative beliefs, and practices, into positive attitudes, and behaviors, (HHS, 2019). Programs, providing mental health services, for families, and children, to help improve functioning, and communication with family addressing the issues of maltreatment, (HHS, 2019).
