Question Mrs. Brown is a 65-year-old female retired school bus driver, whohas a past medical history of Hypothyroidism, , Hypertension and Chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) specifically UC disease has been admitted to your unit. She was admitted into the hospital due to an exacerbation of symptoms such as frequent50- 60  loose bloody stools, malaise, fatigue, and pain in the right lower quadrant and malnutrition. She is receiving IV morphine by PCA with adequate pain relief. She has nausea and vomiting and has been admitted to your floor. She has stated, “I have a fear of eating due to the amount of bowel movements I’m having”. Physical exam: -Tenderness when palpated over the abdomen -A palpable right lower quadrant mass -Vital signs: T 38.90 C orally,. P124 BP92/61 -The patient is alert and oriented -Decreased subcutaneous fat. Oral mucous membranes are dry. -Abdomen soft with hyperactive bowel sounds in four quadrants. -Her last bowel movement was 1 hour ago and watery stool and has steatorrhea -Extremities are warm with palpable peripheral pulses. -Weight loss with minimal muscle atrophy Medications/diagnostic test: -sigmoidoscopy,  -colonoscopy,  – barium upper -Complete Blood Count (CBC) -Pednisone 30mg tab BID P.O 0900hours and 1200hours -Sulfasalzine 500mg tab BID at 0900hours and 1200hours -Lopromide 4mg tab BID at 0900hours and 1200hours -NPO for 24hours Questions and Answers                                                                                                                          -Are the patient’s physical assessment findings consistent with Crohn’s disease? -Why was sulfasalazine, Pednisone and Loapmide ordered for this patient?
