It has been confirmed that he has renal calculi and is dehydrated. It is now approximately 6 hours since his arrival to the hospital and he has had no urine output since admission to the floor. The nurse has notified the physician and new orders have been received. A basic metabolic panel has been drawn and the results are pending. You will be taking over care at this time. You will need to complete a focused assessment, determine if pain medication is needed and administer any medications as ordered. A urinary catheter has been ordered and you are expected to place it.
