Mr. Kenny Parker is an 80-year-old African American who has been in the acute care stroke unit for 3 days. He sustained a right-sided stroke that let him with paralysis in his let leg and arm. His speech was not afected. Mr. Parker is reired from his job as a teacher. Before having the stroke, he was able to get around independently. His wife has heart problems and depends on Mr. Parker to do most of the errands that need to be done. The Parkers have ive children who all try to help out their parents as much as possible. Mr. Parker had a previous stroke 5 years ago but had no deicits from that stroke. He is taking anihypertensive and aniplatelet medicaions and is compliant with taking them. Mr. Parker is going to be transferred to a rehabilitaion center to gain strength and learn how to funcion with his neurological deicits. He is willing to go and has been accepted into one that is close to his home. John Williams is a 40-year-old senior nursing student who is assigned to Mr. Parker.
