Assignment 2: Strategies and Options for Maintaining Professional Competency and Advancing Practice

Description of RA2:

This assignment is aimed to provide exposure to the professional competency strategies and tools found within TeamSTEPPS and the Force No. 13 that are important to maintaining nurse professional competency and advancing professional practice.

Tasks:

Evaluate the use of at least two strategies and tools found in your workplace that represent the professional competencies of Interprofessional Teamwork, as described in TeamSTEPPS, and Magnet Force No. 13, Interdisciplinary Relationships. Present your written evaluation in the form of a PowerPoint presentation. The PowerPoint presentation is supported with detailed speaking notes with scholarly references.
In a minimum of 15 presentation slides and 3 pages of detailed speaking notes, structure your assignment as follows:

  • Describe the workplace setting where your evaluation is being conducted.
  • Identify the two professional competencies being addressed (i.e., Interprofessional Teamwork or Interdisciplinary Relationships).
  • Describe two or more strategies and tools that are being used to meet the professional competency.
  • Evaluate how competent you, your teams, relationships, and the organization are in providing quality patient care using the strategies and tools you have identified.
  • Recommend improvements to the two competencies based on your evaluation.
  • Provide final evaluation conclusions to wrap up your presentation.
