FEMA helped in the restoration of power, public transportation, critical infrastructure, and services. As a result of the Hurricane Sandy disaster, FEMA spent about $15.2 billion, through the Public Assistance Program, for debris removal, permanent restoration of public amenities and critical infrastructure, and emergency protective measures in New York and New Jersey (FEMA, 2017).During this particular disaster, the agency played a key role in assisting the affected communities to quickly recover from the effects of the disaster.ReferenceFEMA.
