Gender analysis
Description
NOTE: This question should be answered by people familiar with gender studies in the sports field.
The main basis of your essay should come from our class discussions and the iLearn materials. No outside references; please use and incorporate into your essay at least one (or more!) of the readings from the course syllabus. You may additionally reference any of the films that were assigned. Check your similarity rating on the turn-it-in site; it should be no more than 10%. Use APA formatting for references. You may want to outline your paper before writing and proofread it when youre finished! Two double-spaced pages are the maximum.
Think back over the past several weeks of discussion and reflect on all the different strategies and approaches we have used for analyzing the socio-cultural variable of gender (e.g., tables, columns, written analyses, class discussions):
Examine the phrase hierarchy of bodies.
1. Who is at the top of the hierarchy, the middle, and the bottom, and why? Include any gendered population weve discussed. Use specific examples to demonstrate your points.
2. How does this phrase shows that gender is a sociocultural construction? Use sports and physical activity examples to support your argument.
